IT Field Support/Cabling Technician

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.00 to $22.00 /hour

Job Overview

  • Installation, termination, and testing of low voltage network cabling
  • Ability to lead and perform complex installations and service projects
  • Installation and configuration of equipment (Servers, Switches, APs, DVRs, and Cameras)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software applications
  • Ability to upgrade and repair PC and Apple products
  • Provide training to customers
  • Travel statewide based on customer locations
  • Assists user community in software and hardware problem resolution
  • Keeps up-to-date documentation of applications, systems, and network equipment
  • Maintain and update customer site documentations
  • Manage assigned tickets and assist in managing ticket queue daily
  • Receive or assign service tickets and service all assigned tickets to the best of your abilities
  • Create new tickets for un-ticketed work requests
  • Update ticket fields upon receipt

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • High mechanical aptitude – use of hand tools and equipment
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, or lifts
  • Ability to evaluate critical systems, prioritize work, and determine solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A working knowledge of these technologies: Microsoft Office; Windows server and client versions and related utilities; e-mail servers; Ethernet and wireless networking and related protocols; VPN, remote access, and configurations of home PCs connected to the corporate network remotely; PDAs, cellular phones, and combinations thereof; hardware installation and support; system security techniques and firewall administration; Internet and Web technologies; Smart Home Systems, PC & Apple repair
Key Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Basic knowledge of Networking LAN/WAN, TCP/IP protocols, etc.
  • 5+ years network cabling experience
  • A+ and Server+ Certification recommended
